ABSTRACT
In urban areas, the strong concentration of the pre-existent sensitive structures (buildings on deep or
surface foundations, drain...) returns underground work more delicate. For the designer, it is necessary
to be worried by the effects of the excavation on the existing medium and decide options to take,
without harming the environment.
Since a score of years, new techniques of construction were introduced on the building site. They
make it possible to realize underground works, in particular in urban areas, loose and aquiferous
grounds without causing significant degradations on the ground surface. The knowledge of the
techniques and their implementation is by consequent essential for arriving at satisfactory modelings.
